The Annadale Garden Club (Staten Island, NY) held its monthly meeting last night. Mrs. Jean Bennett, a Master Flower Show Judge and tree expert, spoke about how important trees are. In addition the club finalized its schedule of programs for 2010. The theme for 2010 is Growing Together.

What did I grow last summer…?

The best way to remember what you grew is to take plenty of pictures. Digital cameras make picture taking easy and less expensive. You can take as many pictures as you’d like and only print the ones you really want. Garden memories are vivid with pictures.

The Annadale Garden Club held its annual election at the November meeting. The new club officers will be:

Vice-President: Joel Heffner
Corresponding Secretary: Olga Federico
Recording Secretary: Barbara Hosie
Treasurer: Denise Solomon
Board of Directors
Jean Bennett and Karen Masculi (2008-2010)
Christine Angel and Georgie Hicenbothem (2010-2012)

The new officers will be installed at the club’s next meeting on December 4, 2009.

Wow…what an auction!

Last night, the Annadale Garden Club conducted their 2nd annual auction. It was a huge success. In addition to members of the club there were lot’s of folks from other clubs who came. Everyone had a fun time…and took home all kinds of goodies. Thanks to all of those who attended and special thanks to those who made the event possible by contributing goods and helping to set up the auction. Wow…what an auction!

Weeds are not the same…

When we hear the word weed, we ussualy think of something bad in our gardens. However, Dr. Olga Federico, a member of the Anndale Garden Club wrote an article in the Staten Island Advance that may make you think twice. Her article is called Butterfly Weed lets the garden take wing. Read it and see what how lovely a weed can really be.
