The Annadale Garden Club, a member of the First District Federated Garden Clubs of NYS, Inc., met at Dearborn Farms (Holmdel, NJ) to help celebrate National Gardening Week. Club President Leslie Heffner started the meeting by announcing that club members Olga Federico, Denise Solomon, Jean Bennett, Bea Nicholson, Barbara Hosie, Joel Heffner, and Leslie Heffner were all award winners at the recent First District “Fiddler on the Roof” Flower Show. In coordination with the club’s 2010 them of “Growing Together” the members took part in a workshop on unusual houseplants, viewed the farm’s growing greenhouse, and had a tour of the family’s private orchard of apple, pear, plum, and citrus trees. The club’s next meeting will feature a trip to Brock Farms (Freehold, NJ) where members will view water gardens and the water lilies that beautify them.
