Weeds are not the same…

When we hear the word weed, we ussualy think of something bad in our gardens. However, Dr. Olga Federico, a member of the Anndale Garden Club wrote an article in the Staten Island Advance that may make you think twice. Her article is called Butterfly Weed lets the garden take wing. Read it and see what how lovely a weed can really be.

Kids + Dirt = Gardeners!

As part of the Annadale Garden Club’s One Stoop at a Time Project, Leslie Heffner has been turning local kids into gardeners. They display their work…on their stoops, of course. They are trying to make Staten Island a little nicer…One Stoop at a Time!

Our May meeting featured flower designs…

The Annadale Garden Club (on Staten Island, NY) has been very busy. Our May meeting consisted of members who made designs and had them critiqued by Master Flower Show Judge (and Annadale member) Barbara Hosie.

Barbara Hosie provided many useful tips for flower design.

Our petite design workshop…

Lee Gugliada conducted a workshop on how to create small and petite designs. She first showed us how to do it and then helped us produce our own designs. Wow!

In addition to Lee’s excellent workshop, the club conducted its monthly in-club competition where members bring in plants that are judged by Master Flower Show Judges. This month’s top prize went to Dr. Olga Federico.

Meeting Notice

The next meeting of the Annadale Garden Club will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2008 at the Pastor Kroon Center. Lee Gugliada, Advance Columnist, Master Flower Judge, and former Director of the First District, will be presenting on petite designs.
